News you listen to, at the depth you choose

A multilingual news platform built on a simple observation: for most of the day your eyes are busy, but your ears are free. The same story in thirty seconds or in a quarter of an hour — you decide how deep to go.

Where the name comes from

Degree zero once ran through Oradea

Today the prime meridian runs through Greenwich. But before the world settled on London, every school of astronomy picked its own starting point — and in the fifteenth century, one of them was Oradea.

At the court of Bishop János Vitéz, the astronomer Georg von Peuerbach compiled the Tabulae Varadienses — eclipse tables calculated on the meridian of Oradea. For the astronomers who used them, the world's degree zero passed through this city.

That is where the name comes from. Not as a geographic claim, but as a starting point: the place everything else is measured against.

A meridian is not a line that exists in the ground. It is a convention — an agreement about where we begin counting.

What sets us apart

Smart Audio: the same story, on three levels

Radio gives you what someone else scheduled. A podcast asks for an hour. Between the two there is almost nothing. Here you choose the depth for each story, as you go.

01

Top 10 Flash

5–7 min · ~30–40 sec / story

The ten most important articles in the system, condensed into dynamic segments in radio style. It runs as a continuous stream, like a news bulletin.

02

Summary

5–10 min / story

The article you picked, combined with two or three related pieces into a structured audio report of medium length.

03

ALL IN

15+ min / story

In-depth analysis on a RAG architecture: it searches the database for every antecedent, statement and related international report, and builds a full audio documentary.

Car mode · hands-free

Built for the moment you cannot look at a screen

A separate interface, not an enlarged version of the usual one. In practice it replaces the radio — except the running order is yours.

  • Large buttons, high contrast. Pressed without looking at the screen.
  • Voice commands. "Next story", "Summary", "ALL IN on this subject".
  • Intelligent ordering. Touch nothing and the player works through your Top 10 on its own.

The interface

Dark theme, cards that scroll sideways

Close to how streaming platforms look today — because that is how people read now, not because it is fashionable.

The main feed

Rows of horizontally scrolling cards: cover image, date, category, a concise headline and a one-sentence introduction. A maximum of 15–18 stories per category, so loading stays fast and the list stays readable.

Personalisation

A fixed block with the Top 10 and the most-read. For anonymous visitors the categories rearrange by region (Geo-IP and cookies). For registered users, by the topics and areas they follow.

The article page

Headline, a synthesis in three or four points, the audio player controls with a language selector, then the full text. At the end, the original sources and direct links to them.

Our own content

Dedicated tabs for podcasts, video reports and YouTube material produced in-house — separate from the aggregated feed.

Comments, kept at home

Our own system, directly beneath the articles, with no redirect to Facebook. Automatic AI moderation for abusive, toxic or spam comments.

Under the bonnet

The news, translation and speech engine

  • Approved sources. Continuous intake from trusted portals, via RSS and scraping, from a whitelist.
  • Rewritten, not copied. Content is restructured automatically; the original sources are cited and linked directly.
  • Relevance filter. Removes duplicates and scores importance, so the daily flow stays manageable.
  • Human approval. In the first phase, every story the AI processes passes through the newsroom before publication.
  • Continuous learning. The algorithm calibrates on editorial feedback.
  • Voice in step. Changing the language changes both the text and the AI voice.

Nine languages at launch

Romanian · default Hungarian English German Spanish Polish Slovak Portuguese Chinese (Mandarin)

Account

What an account gets you

Quick sign-in with Google, Facebook or email.

  • A feed of your own. The order of categories and regions, set by you.
  • Saved articles. Bookmarks for what you want to return to.
  • Your own audio playlist. Build the list you want to listen to.
  • Premium content. Access to material produced in-house.

Development plan

The five phases

The order is not decorative: each phase depends on the one before it. Audio has nothing to synthesise until the news engine exists.

Phase 1

UI/UX design and frontend prototype

  • Dark-theme card system, responsive across desktop, tablet and mobile
  • The interface and controls for car mode
  • Multilingual architecture, with Romanian as the default language

Phase 2

AI backend and the news engine

  • The intake module for approved sources
  • The LLM module for rewriting, summarising and filtering
  • The admin dashboard for manual approval
  • The multilingual translation pipeline

Phase 3

Smart Audio integration

  • Connecting text-to-speech APIs for the nine languages
  • The algorithm for the Flash bulletin — Top 10 in radio format
  • The "Summary" and "ALL IN" generators, on a RAG architecture
  • A prototype for voice control

Phase 4

Users and social features

  • Profiles and SSO authentication
  • Personalisation based on Geo-IP and cookies
  • Our own comment system, with AI moderation

Phase 5

Testing and launch

  • Beta testing with the editorial team
  • Calibrating the AI learning process
  • Official launch

Where we are

The platform is in development. We are not announcing a launch date yet.

In the first phase, every story the system processes passes through human approval. We want it to be accurate before it is fast — for a news product, that order is not negotiable.
